Medical Lab Technician (MLT) / Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) / Medical Technologist (MT)
The Medical Lab Technician (MLT) / Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) / Medical Technologist (MT) is responsible for performing & evaluating the validity of technical laboratory procedures in all rotated clinical areas on neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult & geriatric patient specimens to obtain data for use in the diagnosis & treatment of disease in accordance with CRMC & profession standards of practice; maintaining all aspects of quality assurance, control, & improvement; providing rapid & accurate reporting of results, preventative maintenance, & technical assistance; relaying & documenting all alert (critical) values appropriately; & models appropriate behavior as exemplified in the CRMC Mission and Values statement. Other duties as assigned.
Education:
- MLT: An Associate's Degree or Diploma as a Medical Laboratory Technician (M.L.T.) with completion of an NCCLS or AMA approved MLT training program or National Registry from AMT or ASCP. Tennessee License OR National Registry from a National Board of Certification (C.A.P., M.T. (A.S.C.P); A.M.T. ; N.C.A., C.L.S.), is required.
- MT/MLS: Bachelor's Degree required. Completion of an NCCLS or AMA approved medical technology-training program is preferred. Licensure from the State of Tennessee Medical Laboratory Board as a medical laboratory technologist (M.T.) or Registry as a medical technologist from a national board of certification [C.A.P., M.T. (A.S.C.P.); A.M.T.; N.C.A, C.L.S.], is preferred.
Experience:
- MLT: Minimum of one (1) year experience under a qualified director is preferred.
- MT/MLS: Minimum of six (6) years experience under a qualified director is preferred.
