Quality Control Microbiologist

Job Summary

Develop and perform specialized quality assurance processes including quality systems development and monitoring to assist in establishing and maintaining effective quality assurance methods, Good Manufacturing Practice, and quality control processes. The Quality Control Microbiologist conducts quantitative and qualitative analysis of cosmetic, over the counter & pharmaceutical products according to FDA, ISO, GLP, cGMP, and Wasatch Product Development, LLC. Standard Operating Procedures. Duties will include Hardy Diagnostic compact dry plating as well as NeoGen microbiology systems of manufactured products through ISO standards and LIMS test protocols.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential

  • Perform quality control tests in the lab as well as on-site when necessary
  • Assist with testing and calibrating lab equipment in preparation for specific tasks
  • Perform quality control tests on ingredients, completed products and product samples
  • Prepare samples prior to shipping them to customers
  • Follow all company policies and procedures to ensure product integrity and quality control
  • Analyze retrieved data and prepare reports for laboratory management



Qualifications/Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related science discipline required with 0-2 years of related experience.
  • 2+ years' laboratory experience in food manufacturing environment. experience in quality assurance, Good Lab Practices, and Good Manufacturing Practice. (Preferred)
  • Capable of prioritizing tasks to meet goals and ensure product quality.
  • Willing to meet on-call obligations as needed.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.



Machines Typically Operated

Computer operations, word processing, spreadsheet, comprehensive statistical package, etc., pH meter, Scale, Analytical Scale, Hardy Diagnostics Compact Dry Micro Plating, Instrument Calibration, and Soleris microbiology system.

Typical Physical Requirements

  • Frequently involves light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • Involves a variety of physical activities including: lifting, feeling, talking, and repetitive motions
  • Visual acuity required is the minimum standard for use with those whose work deals largely with preparing and analyzing data and figures, accounting, transcription, computer terminals, extensive reading, visual inspection involving small defects, handling small parts, operation of simple machines, using measurement devices, assembling or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
